Doctorate (Dr.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) are degrees awarded to people for completing a program or a course. A Dr. in Latin means to teach, but in real-life situations, a Dr. Degree is a high level of academic degree awarded to students by universities. A Doctorate degree shows that a person is certified to work as a teacher in a higher institution.

There are two types of Dr. Degree; we have a research-oriented degree and a professional application degree. A person awarded with a Doctorate degree can use Dr. as a title in front of their name while the Ph.D. degree is an award to people who have done advanced research on a particular course. It is the highest level of a university degree; a Ph.D. is awarded to anyone from any course that has done intense research and has also added to the society.

Ph.D. and doctoral degrees are both very prestigious, as they are considered to be of remarkably high value. A Ph.D. is more focused on a career in academics. At the same time, most doctoral degrees focus on a profession outside a university or research environment, Ph.D. is a prerequisite for tenure as a teacher in colleges or universities. Universities also award a Ph.D. to the person who has provided extraordinary services to the public in specific fields.

These Ph.D.’s is highly esteemed. While a doctorate may pave the way for some other postgraduate academic degrees, a Ph.D. is one doctoral degree that falls into a specific group. To be qualified for a Ph.D., one must possess an honors degree or master’s degree with impeccable marks or grades. A doctorate is an enormous challenge, and achieving it is considered as highly regarded.

Needlepoint is a type of craft that involves the pulling of floss, yarn, or thread through a canvas mesh so as to create a decorative design. Different processes are usually adopted in order to create a different look for each design. Needlepoint stitch comes in different designs, and that is why we have different types for this embroidery technique. Some of these types are cushion stitches, goblin stitches, basketweave stitch, Parisian stitches, mosaic stitches, etc.

On the other hand, cross-stitch is also one of the ways by which embroidery can be made. Cross stitch is used mostly to create x-shaped stitches. Needlepoint takes more time compared to cross stitch since the process is done mostly on canvas, whereas cross stitch uses woven fabric. All the types of needlepoint stitch follow the same process similar to the one used in making tent stitch, whereas cross stitch involves making a series of intersections to form what looks like letter x.
