WAP and routers are two ways to connect to the internet in an office or home. WAP stands for the wireless access point. One of the differences between them is how they function. WAP gives an alternative when it comes to wires. It allows for the devices to wirelessly connect. With the wireless features, users have more mobility when it comes to how they use their devices connected to WAP. For example, a student could study anywhere in a home and still be connected to the Internet. In the case of the router, it is connected directly by a wire. Therefore, the person using the Internet must have their device connected to the router.

The functions of the two are different from each other. A router is known to come with different elements that will make sure that the data packets will be going where they are supposed to be headed. From the name itself, a “router” will be able to direct where the data should be going.

The WAP, on the other hand, is known to be one of the alternatives that can be used so that different computers that need to connect to each other will be connecting without any wires. WAP stands for Wireless Access Point. The use of the WAP can make using the gadgets can add mobility to the users.
