Hotmail and Live are two types of services that are offered that a person can use. Both are running through Microsoft. Hotmail is an email service that has been around since 1996. Many may not know it by that name, but instead Outlook. However, a person with an older Hotmail account can still access it through Hotmail. Live is a brand name, which covers a number of different products. An example of Live is XBOX live, which allows players of the console to play together in real-time. Another product ran through Live is Skype, which can be used for video conferencing.

Hotmail is known to be an email service that is being offered wherein people can create accounts, send messages and other files to each other, and so much more. Live, on the other hand, is the brand name of a certain group of products. These products are created by Microsoft. It has been a long time since Microsoft has acquired Hotmail.

In fact, it was acquired back in the 90s, which means that it has been around for more than two decades. Hotmail is one of the services that is being offered on Live. Live is a branding campaign that has allowed people to consider Microsoft for the services that they may need.
