There are many different types of sexually transmitted diseases that one can catch, such as syphilis and gonorrhea. Syphilis is caused by Treponema palladium. Gonorrhea is caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae. One of the main differences between them is the amount of time it takes for the symptoms of the sexually transmitted disease (STD) to appear. Gonorrhea, for example, appears quickly. After infection, symptoms can appear after as little as two days and as many as ten days.
