Medications like hydroxychloroquine are most times regarded as steroid-sparing agents. Their major function is to suppress the immune system. Although hydroxychloroquine is primarily used in the treatment of malaria infection, however, it can also be used to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. These diseases cause the body tissues to be attacked by the immune system of the body.

For example, rheumatoid arthritis is a disease that causes the immune system to attack the joints. When this happens, it leads to the inflammation and swelling of the joints. Steroid-sparing agents or immunosuppressives like hydroxychloroquine are usually prescribed to stop the cells in the immune system from further dividing and so that they can eventually die.

Hydroxychloroquine is usually classified as a steroid-sparing agent because it can help reduce the need for steroids if a doctor doesn't want to use steroid therapy to cure these diseases.

This medication is important to the lives of many and requires taking it for the full period of time for it to properly work. Along with treating those conditions, doctors are currently testing the medication to see if it can subside the symptoms of the coronavirus or cure it altogether.

What a lot of people may not know is that hydroxychloroquine first started out as a drug that is used to treat malaria. It comes with some steroidal properties, which means that it can be classified as a steroid. When this drug was tested further, people have realized that it may not be too effective against malaria, but it can be effective in treating other conditions that may be related to the immune system.

This can be effective in treating some autoimmune diseases such as lupus and even rheumatoid arthritis. Take note that this will only be a drug that will be considered if the patient that is being treated does not respond well to other available treatments.

Yes, hydroxychloroquine is known to be a type of steroid that is normally used in order to treat malaria. There was a time when this was used not only for the treatment of malaria but also for the possible prevention of the condition.

Take note that one of the reasons why a lot of people would like to know more about this is due to the fact that this is one of the drugs that will supposedly be very helpful in fighting COVID 19.

This is also one of the medications used whenever people would like to treat dermatitis and autoimmune diseases. There are some people who are saying that they are having a harder time looking for this medication because people are hoarding this now.

Steroids are any of the large class of organic compounds with a distinct molecular structure, including four rings of carbon atoms. Hydroxychloroquine, which is not a steroid, is an anti-malaria drug that is also used to treat lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other autoimmune diseases.

Hydroxychloroquine is typically used in the first stages of disease in children and adolescents with SLE to decrease symptoms of fatigue, manifestations, and alopecia, and coincidentally, steroid toxicity. It has also demonstrated the possibility of treating thrombosis.

Studies have indicated that the drug reverses the inhibitor of trophoblast interleukin. It has been shown to diminish steroid-induced hypercholesterolemia and to lower fasting blood glucose concentrations.
