There have been several arguments about religion and Christianity; some of the popular questions often asked is that is Christianity a religion?

Religion can be defined as the process in which humans try their best to being touch with supreme and divine beings. Religion originates from a Latin word “religos “. There are popular religions like Judaism, Jainism, Hinduism, Islam, Roman Catholic, Christianity, etc. People who usually follow a religion are referred to as religionists. Religion leaders are elected for leadership by men. The teachings are based on spiritual leaders.

Christianity comes from a root word Christ, which is derived from the Greek word “Christos,” which means the anointed one by the Holy Spirit. Christianity teaches people to have faith in God through Jesus Christ, which is the son. Christian leaders are chosen by God. Christians believe that their savior is Jesus Christ. The teaching is based on the bible.

The confusion between religion and Christianity usually arises whenever some people try to argue that Christianity is not a religion. However, the main belief of most people is that Christianity is a type of religion, just like there are other religions such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, etc.

However, the various differences between Christianity and religion will be explained in relation to some practices of other existing religions. Unlike other religions that use certain religious beliefs and practices as yardsticks for being upright before God, Christianity teaches that one is upright and saved only when he professes Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal savior.

Christianity teaches people to have faith in God through his son i.e., Jesus Christ. Some religions elect their leaders, and some are chosen when they have fulfilled certain religious obligations, but Christian leaders are chosen by God. Christianity is based on the teaching and the gospel of Jesus Christ about the kingdom of God. In contrast, most religions are centered on the various teachings and philosophies of their founders.
