Mitosis happens to be a kind of cell division which takes place within somatic cells (non-sex cells). The replication of this type of cell is designed to bring about increment in the numerical amount of cells during the embryogenesis and blastogenesis of both plants and animals.

Mitosis has 4 phases or stages, which are S, G1, G2, and the last mitotic phase that makes the cycle a complete one. The 1st to the 3rd phases comprise what is called the interface. On the other hand, binary fission, which is also referred to as prokaryotic fission, is known to be the simplest and most familiar form of asexual reproduction.

It is considered to be simple due to the fact that the whole process ends faster compared to the mitotic process. There are three types of binary fission, which are longitudinal, simple, and transverse binary fission. Unlike mitosis, there are no distinct cellular phases in binary fission.
