Both annuals and perennials are exquisite and delicate flowers that come in many different colors, shapes, and scents. Annual plants need moisture to grow, while perennials are only grown in specific areas set aside for them. Their name, annuals can explain yearly plants.

They have grown annually and need to be replenished each year. This kind of plant germinates, flowers and sets seed all in one growing season. Annuals need water-soluble fertilizer and moist soil to facilitate the growing process.

There are warm-season and cool-season types of flowers. Perennials live for longer than a year and can live far past that point. They need moist or dry soil, depending upon the plant. Perennials generally need lots of moisture to help establish a healthy root system.

One distinction between annuals and perennials is that annuals flourish in many different climates, while perennials thrive only in specific US department of agriculture hardiness zones, depending on the plant. Another difference is that annual plants complete their life cycle in a single season, especially for one year, as perennials grow and blossom for more than two years.

Once annual plants complete their life cycle, they die. They need to be replaced each year, hence the name ‘annuals.’ Perennials are plants that generally live for more than two years. These plants attain more height than annuals, which are known for their bushy quality.

However, unlike annuals, they produce fewer flowers. Annuals and perennials both come in a rainbow of colors, and they also come in different sizes, shapes, and scents.
