Rows and columns refer to how things are arranged either vertically or horizontally. Rows are horizontal, from left to right, and columns are organized vertically from top to bottom. When describing a row of things or people, we refer to these being in a straight line.

There are a few solid examples of rows, including rows of seats in a movie theater or a street with houses all lined up in a row. You may also find rows in tables, spreadsheets, architecture, and school classrooms. Facts and figures are also placed in a horizontal form so that they can be easily understood.

A column can be a formation of troops or ships, and also a vertical pillar that holds up a structure. The total information in rows is demonstrated in the right corner, while the total data in columns is displayed at the bottom.

The word row means something or people who are placed horizontally in a straight line. Rows go from right to left or left to right, while columns are vertically placed from top to bottom, or from bottom to top. Columns are generally used in applications such as science and math to demonstrate words—numbers or objects of information.

However, unlike with rows, columns generally do not refer to people. Columns are also seen in tables, spreadsheets, and databases. Row could mean many things, as well, such as rows of chairs, rows of people, rows of houses, a line of stitches in knitting or crochet, and it can also be found in a spreadsheet in conjunction with columns. The division of tables and columns help us to find the necessary information.
