What is the difference between Nationalism and Patriotism?

Patriotism is based on someone's love for their country based on their beliefs, values, and principles. Nationalism is the identification with one's nation and support for its concerns, and especially in favor of the marginalization of other nations. Nationalism demonstrates the notion of one's country being superior to another in all aspects. Its ideology does not allow room for peace.

On the other hand, patriotism does not promote hostility towards other nations. Still, rather it solidifies the appreciation and respect for their country. Patriotism is rooted in affection, while nationalism is rooted in hatred. A nationalist only drove by self-interested and often narrow -minded thinking, while patriotism emphasizes liberty, equality, and justice for all.
