Converter and Inverter are two devices that are used to change or control the voltage that will be entering a particular device so as to prevent it from blowing up. Aside from this simple similarity, there are some differences between the two. Inverters are devices that are used to change direct current DC voltage into an alternating current AC voltage, either by decreasing or increasing the voltage. On the other hand, converters are devices that are used to regulate alternating current AC voltage and direct current DC separately.

Unlike inverters that can be used to change AC voltage to DC voltage, converters cannot be used to achieve this. In other words, a converter cannot be used to change direct current DC voltage to alternating current AC voltage if the source of the power is DC, but it can only be used to regulate the voltage from the direct current. Another difference is that converters are not that complex compared to inverters.
