Dog lovers will be familiar with AKC and UKC because these are different organizations that are in charge of the dog pedigree registries in the United States. AKC stands for American Kennel Club while UKC stands for United Kennel Club. These two different clubs hold different dog shows easily. They have some similarities and differences. These two clubs will require different dogs to be registered, provided that they are purebred.
The rarer breeds will usually register with UKC instead of AKC. Another difference between the two is AKC will allow professional dog handlers to go to dog shows while UKC will not allow this. AKC is known to be a big club, while the UKC is a small club.
