OEF stands for Operation Enduring Freedom. OEF was designated for Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism, especially the Al Qaeda group, which was orchestrated by Osama Bin Laden. The result of OEF was the killing of Osama Bin Laden, as well as the end of the Taliban regime. OIF was named for Iraq. The OIF resulted in the successful ousting of Saddam Hussein and his weapons of mass destruction. The OIF group also killed Saddam Hussein. While OIF was focused in Iraq, the OEF, on the other hand, has more moderate operations in other countries to combat global terrorism.
