The thyroid is known to be the gland that can be found near the neck area. This gland produces hormones that are needed by the body so that it can do its function properly. The parathyroid is located next to the thyroid. While the thyroid has different functions, the only function of the parathyroid is to make sure that it will regulate the amount of calcium that can be found in the body.
There is only one thyroid gland in the body, but there are four different types of parathyroid that can be found all over the body. Even their colors are different. The thyroid is known to be brownish-red in color while the parathyroid is color yellow.
