The Red Oak is also referred to as (Quercus rubra) and Black Oak is also called (Quercus velutina) are different trees with different features. The red oak leaves have 7- 11 lobes, and the black Oak leaves have 5-9 lobes.

The black oak tree is a small oak tree that is about 25 meters and 0.9 meters in its diameter while the red oak is a bit taller than it is about 43 meters and 0.5-1 diameter. The red oak is about 141 feet, and the black oat is about 82 feet, which shows that the red oak is taller than the black oat.

The Red oak is mainly used as a building construction material while the black tree is mainly used on the floor. The black oat’s bark color is red-orange to brown while the red oat’s bark color is light gray.

Black Oak and Red Oak are two species of Oak trees. Although both Black and Red Oak trees belong to the same family, i.e., the beech family, there are still some differences between the two. One of the ways to differentiate between the Red Oaktree and the Black Oaktree is by comparing the number of lobes their leaves have.

For instance, you will notice a total of 7 to 9 lobes on Black Oak leaves, whereas Red Oak leaves have a total of 7 to 11 lobes. Averagely, Red Oak leaves have more lobes compared to Black Oak leaves. While both Black Oak leaves and Red Oak leaves easily turn red during their fall season, there are times you will see Red Oak leaves turning to brown or yellow during this season. A mature Black Oaktree has the color of its bark as black, while a mature Red Oaktree has the color of its bark as reddish-brown.

To understand the difference between a black and red oak tree, you must first know what an oak tree is. Oak trees are majestic and can survive hundreds of years. Two types of oak trees that are around are black and red oak trees.

One of the difference between these type of oak trees is what they produce and how they are used. Black oak trees are known for producing acorn seeds. They do so every few years.

These trees also attract animals like chipmunks. Red oak trees are known for their wood. This wood is high quality, which can be instrumental in making home decor and furniture.

The oak tree is a deciduous tree, often referred to as the majestic tree can live up to 200 years. The black and red oak are two familiar types of an oak tree. When the leaves change color in the fall, the red oak tree leaves turn red. The red oak tree possesses high-quality wood, which is used to produce furniture and home décor, and it is also a valuable timber tree. It is known as the red oak, champion oak, and Spanish oak and is the state tree of New Jersey.

On the other hand, the black oak produces acorn seeds around every two to three years, and it is known for inviting animals to forage; this includes squirrels and chipmunks. The bark of the black oak contains a dark gray shade with many undulations. The leaves are transformed into a variety of bright, brilliant fall colors such as red, yellow, orange, and umber.
