Diction and tone might actually have some kind of connections, but the two terms are not totally the same. The term diction does not totally refer to the way someone pronounces words, how he pauses, and the tones used; it also refers to the choice of words and the vocabulary used by a person when writing; although the term diction has so much to do with your speech than your writing.

There are different kinds of elements under diction; they include; utterance, verb, phoneme, inflection, conjunction, connective, verb. So, the concept of all these elements must be mastered to have the right diction. On the other hand, the tone is usually explained as the pitch used in a language.

Most times, tone refers to the way the feelings and attitude of a character are communicated by a speaker or writer. In some languages, tones are used majorly to determine the meaning of a particular word meaning a word can have different tones.

Diction and Tone can be simply differentiated in general terms as the style of speech of a person and pitch used to express different emotions.

Diction can be defined in two different ways. The first one is the expression of a person when speaking or writing, which includes the vocabulary, and the choice of words used by a person, and the other refers to the way a person pronounces words. Diction has eight elements verb, noun, phoneme, syllable, connective, inflection, conjunction, and utterance.

The tone is how a writer or speaker communicates the attitude or feeling of a character he is speaking or writing about. Tone can also be referred to as the pitch used in the language. The tone is used mostly to emphasize the mood. If a person is sad, angry, happy, or in pain, a person tones communicate this during speaking or writing.

Speech and language are ways that we communicate with one another. These two things can tell a lot about our feelings and about the message that we are trying to convey. Two aspects of speech and language include diction and tone.

Diction is the quality of speech. It is how clearly a person can be understood by using things such as pauses in between sentences or using the correct type of punctuation in a written manner.

The tone is one of the ways a message is conveyed. A person that is angry may have a louder tone than a person having a casual conversation.

Diction has a plethora of different meanings. Diction refers to the quality of speech when you can clearly understand what is being said. It's not about the manner of speaking or the use of specific words, but rather steady punctuation and pauses in the correct places. Diction is about the distinctiveness of speech.

The characteristic of tone refers to the essence of a language, which assists in recognizing words from each other. It is through a tone that emotions and other expressions are provided for the reader or the listener. Many languages have limited use of tones, such as Somali or Japanese.
