There are five species of the ostrich, including the S.c australis in South Africa, known as the black-necked ostrich, raised for meat, feathers, and eggs. The S.c. Camelus in North Africa is sometimes called the North African ostrich or the red-necked ostrich, with a reddish-pink neck. The males possess black and white feathers, and the females have grey feathers. S.c. Massaicus in East Africa is sometimes called the Masai ostrich.

It has feathers on top of its head, and they boast a bright orange-colored neck and thighs. S.c. Syriacus is sometimes called an Arabian ostrich or a Middle Eastern ostrich, is now considered extinct. S.c. Molybdophanes are called the Somali ostrich. The neck and thighs are impeccable greyish blue. The male's neck can become a bright blue, and the females are more brown colored.

Ostriches are mostly found in Africa, and there are about five different species of them. They include; Somali ostrich, Arabian ostrich, Masai ostrich, Southern ostrich, and North African ostrich. They look very similar, but their differences are in their colors and sizes. Ostriches also look very similar to the emus. Ostriches, as mostly described, are the biggest birds in the world. They are often described as flightless birds. There are so many interesting things about ostriches. It will interest you to know that ostriches are the world's biggest and fastest ground birds.

They can run with a maximum speed of 55mph, especially when threatened by predators. They don't have many predators due to their strength. Their two legs are so powerful to the extent that most of their predators won't survive their kicks. Another interesting thing about ostriches is that they produce the biggest eggs. And on average, they can produce 14 eggs in a month.
