There are greater than 12,000 species of ants all over the world. Ants are social insects, which means they live in giant colonies or groups of ants. Depending on the species, ant colonies consist of an overabundance of ants. There are three types of ants present in every colony. These are the queen, the male workers, and the female workers.

Once the queen makes baby ants with the males, she doesn't live much longer afterward. Depending on the species, there can be more than one queen ant. Ant colonies also have soldier ants that protect and serve the queen. When the queen of the colony dies, the ants end up dying very soon after.

No, ants can't survive in some parts of the world such as Iceland, Antarctica, Greenland, etc. They are mostly found in the tropical forest region. There are about 10000 species of ants throughout the world. They live mostly in the soil where they build their nest. There are some who live inside fallen trees. They care so much about their nest because that's where they store their foods.

There are different kinds of ants in a colony. In a colony, there must be at least a queen, and its major duty is to lay eggs so as to ensure the continued survival of the colony. Most of the ants you see outside are workers; they seem to have more responsibilities than others. They go out to get food for their mates. They also protect the eggs laid by the queen. Their males will copulate with the queens, after which they die.
