The 12 Days of Christmas is a carol sung during Christmas time. The song counts down the days to Christmas, in which a gift is given every day. Though the songs turn into a period of gift-giving, there are a real 12 Days of Christmas in the biblical period.

The days of Christmas in the Bible is a period between the time Jesus was born and the time that the Three Wise Men came. This 12 day period is also known as Twelvetide. The carol known as the 12 Days of Christmas was composed in 1909 by Frederic Austin and is a song still sung to this day.

The 12 days of Christmas are the number of days that people usually spend in celebrating the nativity of Jesus. You can actually hear the song 12 days of Christmas from different shopping malls to the other establishments that you may possibly visit. There are different presents that are given for each day of Christmas, and the number of gifts that are given also varies on the day.

For example, on the 5th day, five golden rings are given. On the 1st day, there is a partridge on a pear tree. On the 10th day, there are ten lords a-leaping, which may not be immediately understood but will probably mean some gentlemen that are jumping up and down.

The twelve days of Christmas are known as Twelve-tides, which is the meat and the root of the traditional Christian season. It is a celebration of the birth of baby Jesus, beginning on December 25th, and ending January 5th. December 26th is St. Stephen's Day. December 27th commemorates St. John the Apostle. December 28th is the feast of the holy innocents, which is when Christians honor the baby boys, which King Herod murdered when he was attempting to find and kill the baby Jesus. December 29th is for St. Thomas Becket.

December 30th is St. Egwin of Worcester. December 31st is New Year’s Eve. Pope Sylvester I is usually traditionally remembered on this day. January 1st is Mary, the mother of Jesus. January 2nd honors St. Basil the Great and St. Gregory Nazianzen. They are two men who played integral roles in teaching 4th century Christians. January 3rd is the feast for Jesus. The feast is the remembrance of when Jesus was officially named in the Jewish temple. January 4th honors St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, who was the first American saint. January 5th praises first Bishop in America named St. John Neumann.

One of the most cherished Christmas carols is “The 12 days of Christmas.” The song is a giant list of a series of presents someone’s true love gave to them beginning on the first day of Christmas, which is December 25th. This song was published in England in 1780. The song displays a lack of chant or rhyme, and it is believed to be of French origin.

It is a cumulative song, which means each verse builds up to the next one. As for the literal meaning of the twelve days of Christmas, it takes place Twelvetide, which is the most significant season for Christians because it celebrates the birth of baby Jesus. The twelve days of Christmas are comprised of the following dates: December 25th to January 5th.
