Overpopulation is defined as when an area or region has so much population that it leads to deterioration of the area. The types of deterioration that can occur are low air quality, poor education, and poor living educations. There are many reasons that lead to overpopulation. In some cases, it is out of control of the people who live in the area.

Many factors contribute to overpopulation. Some of these include lack of education and family planning, expansions in agricultural productivity, and poverty. Improvements in modern medicine have also resulted in an increase in the average life expectancy of humans and impeccable prenatal care and health care. In some countries and many other cultures, there is pressure on people to marry early and produce children.

This practice is also prominent in areas of society in which family planning and education are not so readily available. It depends on the beliefs within the culture in question, and whether or not it promotes having lots of children. Intense farming practices include extensive use of genetically modified foods that have also played an enormous part in population growth. Certain farming practices can be harmful to the environment, as well. Also, immigration can lead to localized overpopulation and cause unequal distribution of natural resources.

Overpopulation is starting to become rampant in various parts of the world. One of the main reasons for this is poverty. Those who do not have enough money to purchase their own properties would need to live in certain places wherein they can build (sometimes) illegal homes. Since there are a lot of people who are like this, they would all be sharing the same small space with a lot of other families. Another reason is poor knowledge of contraceptives.

Some people are not aware that contraceptives exist. They just continue doing sex knowing that they will always have a higher chance of getting pregnant. Immigration is another main cause of overpopulation with people thinking that life is better in a certain place even when it is not.
