The first court case in the Ayodhya title dispute was filed 134 years ago. Over the years, it has worked its way up through the appropriate legal channels, starting at Faizabad civil court of law to Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court to the Supreme Court. India turned from being a colony ruled by the British to an autonomous republic with its own barriers.

The first documented legal history in Ayodhya dispute goes all the way back to 1858. An FIR was filed on November 30 of that year by Mohammed Salim against a particular group of Nihang Sikhs who had established their Nishan and written RAM inside the Babri Mosque. They also performed Havan and Puja, which is a fire ceremony.
