Tom Cruise stars in the sequel to the 1986 film, and the movie is called Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise, of course, reprises his role as Navy pilot Maverick. The plot of the film has progressed over many years.
Maverick will also tackle how the navy has changed in the last thirty years and how it’s participation in modern, foreign wars have shaped how the institution trains, recruits, and prepares them for whatever's next.
There are also rumors going around about how Cruise’s Maverick will be in charge of training new navy fighter pilots with Teller’s character as the Maverick of his own class, forcing Cruise to become a mentor. Val Kilmer is set to rejoin Cruise, and Meg Ryan may come onboard, depending upon whether or not Goose’s son is cast.
