Chandrayaan-2 is the second lunar survey mission developed by the Indian Space Research Organization, after Chandraayan-1. It consisted of a lunar orbiter, the Vikram lander, and The Pragyan lunar rover, all of which were created in India.

The mission's purpose was to chart and study variations in lunar surface composition, as well as the location and availability of lunar water. The mission was launched on its route to the moon from the second launch pad at Satish Dhawan space center on July 22, 2019, at 2:43 pm. The launch had been initially scheduled for July 14, 2019. However, the launch was aborted due to a technical glitch and was rescheduled.
