HD is the shortcut for High Definition. This is the term used for the resolution of the video system that you are using. HD is said to be the upgrade of SD, which means standard definition. HDV is considered to be under HD. This means High Definition Video format. This is a popular video format right now that are being used by a lot of professionals when they want to show videos that are very clear and realistic.

A lot of people say that if you want to get a gadget that will allow you to record videos properly, make sure that they can record in the HDV format for the best results. HD is definitely a well-received format. Time will tell if there is an even more upgraded format that will become available in the long run.

HD stands for High Definition while HDV stands for High Definition Video. HD describes how many pixels a display has in length and width. It defines how a device is good in terms of quality. Display with HD resolution can be 1280 x 720 pixels (which is 720p) or 1920 x 1080 pixels (which is 1080p). The letter “p” stands for a progressive scan which means nom interlaced.

HDV is a subset of HD. It is a format for the recording of high definition video which is commonly used in camcorders. HDV format was formed by JVC and supported by Canon, Sony, and Sharp in September 2003. HDV is the next step up from the Mini DV. HD video has a higher display compared to SD (standard resolution. The video data that will be saved in HD can usually be played in MiniDV cassettes while HDV was supposed to replace the old format called DV.

When it comes to price, those that are in HDV format are considered to be less expensive as compared to those that are being sold in HD format. This means that you can get better quality when you choose HD but you have to be prepared to spend more. The bit rates are obviously lower for HDV as compared to HD.
