Prisoner and Inmate are two words that can be used to refer to someone whose liberty to live freely in the society have been taken, and he's now being held at a particular place. Most times, people's knowledge of the two words has always been someone that is incarcerated in prison, either because he's on trial or because he's serving a sentence. While this is true, the word inmate has other meanings that are closely related but certainly different from the one you know.

An inmate is a word that can be used for someone who is confined to an institution such as a hospital. When a patient stays very long in a particular hospital, the word inmate can be used to refer to such a person. The inmate also refers to someone who dwells within a dwelling-place. For example, a guest in a hotel can be regarded as an inmate

The words “prisoner” and “inmate” are most often used to describe someone that has been jailed for being guilty of committing a crime. Such a person is denied their freedom to serve a term in prison. A prisoner is a term used to describe a person incarcerated in prison while on trial or serving a sentence.

Such a person is held against their will. An inmate is a person confined to an institution such as prison (as a convict) or hospital (as a patient). It can also refer to a person who shares a residence such as a lodger, a hotel guest or a student living on campus. Hope you find this helpful.

The term prisoner or inmate describes someone robbed of their liberty or freedom against their will and jailed due to forcible restraints and incarceration. This term is mainly used for people who are serving a sentence or who are in prison. A judge sentencing a person to confinement and the person going to prison is called a prisoner or inmate.

The word inmate may also refer to patients living in the hospital because of a medical issue for a sustained period of time. Inmates are regarded as very different from other prisoners who are deemed, convicts. The word "prisoner" is a term used for a person who is prosecuted for a felony, but not a misdemeanor. A prisoner can also be a prisoner of war.

A lot of people use the terms inmate or prisoner interchangeably but they do have some differences with each other. An inmate refers to someone who is confined to a house or a dwelling place. The inmate is someone who has been confined in one place in order to make up for the crime that the person has committed.

A prisoner is someone who is already deprived of his rights and is in captivity. There are some prisoners who are in prison but there are also some prisoners who are in their own homes because they are being held captive by a family member, or someone else. The person may be held captive against the law.

A lot of people think that these terms are all the same but actually, they are not all the same. The term prisoner is normally used for people who feel that they are being deprived of their rights to see the rest of the world because of something that they may or may not have done. An inmate is someone who is incarcerated.

There are times when people within the prison would call someone an inmate because this person is someone who is considered to be an informant. Some prisoners feel that they would rather call themselves convicts because they feel that they are bad and they have done something wrong. If they are suddenly called as prisoners, they might get offended.
