The tomato fight has always been part of the culture of the people who are living in Bunol. People are not sure if they started in the year 1945 or 1944. There are not enough details too that will show how the event started in the first place but there are some rumors that circulated about how it came about.

People were unhappy with some of the members of the city council so they decided that they would show how disappointed they are by throwing a lot of tomatoes. People now go there to throw the tomatoes for entertainment purposes and not because they are angry with each other.
