XML and XAML are both programming languages. XML is the short form of Extensible Markup Language, while XAML is the short form of Extensible Application Markup Language. XML is a markup language created by World Wide Web Consortium. XML is used for the identification of various data that exist in a file. It is also known as Metalanguage because it can relate and make a description of other languages.

Although XML is very similar to HTML in that both can be used to perform the same function, XML is not as static or HTML codes. XAML is known as a declarative language that is used to define objects, reveal their properties, and how they relate with other objects. While XML is used to create web pages just like HTML, XAML is used on Windows for creating and editing Graphical User Interface and other applications. Due to the flexibility of XML, it will soon replace HTML.

These two may seem similar to each other because of the similarities in the letters that they use by XML is known to be a markup language. XAML, on the other hand, is a type of declarative application language. This is used for the design of the different Windows controls that are available.

This can also be used to create different web applications. XML is used only for web applications. XAML may also have some of the standards that XML has but this time, these standards are used more extensively. This can do more complicated abilities easily as compared to the XML. XML is still known as the master markup language.
