There is no significant difference between beverage and drink, and at times people get confused by their usage. Drinks refer to a group of liquids that are fit for consumption, including water. Drinks come in different ways, i.e., shape and size. Some drinks are alcoholic because they contain a percentage of ethanol, while some are known as soft drinks or carbonated drinks. The word 'drink' can be used as a noun and as a verb. As a verb, it means to consume any liquid substance through the mouth.
For example, they drank the water I gave them. Beverages, on the other hand, refer to a group of liquid substances that are good for consumption, excluding water. This is just a slight difference between drinks and beverages. The word 'beverage' can only be used as a noun. Beverages are mostly served hot, though not every time. Examples are; coffee, tea, milk, juice.
The most popular drinks include water, milk, juices, tea, coffee, soda, and alcoholic drinks, which would be wine and beer, containing ethanol; however, there are soft drinks, flavored drinks, and carbonated drinks. The word drink may be used as a verb or a noun. The drink is a verb which refers to the act of taking a drink. Speaking of "taking a drink," alcoholic drinks are often just referred to as drinks. Or "getting a drink."
The drink may also be used in the act of toasting or celebrating a person or an event. Cocktails and alcoholic drinks are often served at parties and events. Drinks and drinking are a part of society and several different cultures. There are many different slang words and many different words used to refer to the word percolated and fermented. Everything correlated with drinks can be linked to all types of beverages except for water.
Drinks and beverages almost mean the same to everyone but there is a slight difference between them. Drinks are usually liquids that you can gulp. Soft drinks and some alcoholic drinks can be chugged down quickly if a person is in a haste or just wanted to. Beverages, on the other hand, are drinks which you need to sip or enjoy drinking slowly.
Examples of beverages are coffee and tea. These must be consumed slowly and enjoy their taste in your mouth. You might feel uncomfortable when you gulped down coffee or tea fast as they are acidic. Alcoholic drinks are okay to be gulped down as they have a bitter taste that the majority of people could not stand. So next time you want to stay long in a cafe, order a beverage instead of a drink.
