Hong Kong is a place that is well civilized and equipped with great and sufficient amenities. It seems confusing sometimes whether Hong Kong is a country on its own or a city under the People's Republic of China. Nevertheless, for a place to be recognized as an independent country, it must possess some qualities like population, territorial integrity, sovereignty, and recognition among other countries -where Hong Kong seems to have fallen short. China and Hong Kong are both known to be in the Asian continent, but they have few differences which are going to be stated in this article.

China practice the communist system, while Hong Kong practice the democratic system of government partially. Hong Kong spends the Hong Kong dollars currency, while the currency for China is the Chinese yuan (or renminbi). The international organizations, such as the United Nations do not recognize representation from Hong Kong. Hong Kong actually have independent police force, but do not have independent military force; instead, they depend on the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

The city of Hong Kong is a unique governmental region of the People's Republic of China, and Hong Kong is an autonomous city. The People's Republic of China is a self-governing country. In China, there are a lot of strict rules and restrictions, especially on the internet. However, there is no restriction on the filtering of websites based on their content in Hong Kong.

The contrast is because Hong Kong is a democracy, and China is a socialist single-party state. The dominant religion of China is Taoism. The primary faith in Hong Kong is Buddhism. In cleanliness, Hong Kong is far superior to China. The streets of Hong Kong are always being swept and cleaned.
