Gatorade is the first sports drink that was formulated in order to replenish electrolyte lost through sweat back to the body. In the game of sport, to cope under severe hot weather sometimes, you need more than water and salt. Gatorade was first formulated for the Gator football team in the University of Florida. Other similar drinks like this are the Powerade. Powerade is another sports drinks that can be used to restore electrolyte back to the body. But they have few differences.

The major differences between these two drinks are the amount of sodium, sugar, and type of sugar been used. The basic ingredients in a Gatorade are monopotassium phosphate, salt, and sodium citrate, while the basic ingredients in Powerade are potassium phosphate, salt, and potassium citrate instead of sodium citrate. Gatorade actually has more salt content compared to than Powerade. Gatorade also has fewer calories than Powerade, and it also replenishes sodium back to the body faster.
