Irish whiskey is of two types, we have Irish whiskey with malt and the other one without malt. American whiskey, on the other hand, has four different types: American blend, rye, bourbon and Tennessee. We can also compare the two in terms of their taste. American whiskey gives a very sweet taste compared to Irish whiskey, while Irish whiskey only gives a lighter flavor. The taste given by Irish whiskey is due to the presence of ingredients like barley and malt.
