It might be hard to know the differences between various models sometimes, especially if they seem the same at first glance. This is the case with Linksys WRT54G and WRT54G2. The WRT54G is known to be a very popular model. For a long time, this was the choice of a lot of people. The WRT54G2 is released much later than the WRT45G. They have some differences in terms of appearance.

The WRT54G is known to be bulky, and it comes in black and blue. The WRT54G2 is sleeker and more compact. The color is just black that can help it fit in with whatever room this is placed on. Since the WRT54G2 is a much newer model, the processors are also better as compared to the WRT54G.

The WRT546 is a bit bulky and has a black and blue color combination, while WRT5462 is quite shiny and it is very sleek. Another difference is the lack of the trademark dual antennas, or at least supported optional external antennas. The WRT546 has an external antenna, while the WRT5462 has no ports for external antennas.

The WRT5462 models possess better processors compared to WRT546. The WRT5462 has curved edges and a very narrow profile. It also comes in glossy black with LED’s exquisitely incorporated into the body.

Linksys has many lines of routers. WRT54 is its most popular lineup. The first model released was WRT54G. Then, much later, WRT54G2 was released. The original is much bulkier in size. WRT54G comes in the color combination of blue and black. WRT54G2 comes in a glossy black.

Due to its less bulky size, WRT54G2 is much sleeker. Another reason for this is the WRT54G2 eliminated the two antennas sticking out of the back of the router. Both models have the same capabilities and functions, but the WRT54G2 has a higher processor. They also provide equal security measures.
