Osmosis is known to be the process wherein the different molecules of the body may spread across a semi-permeable membrane while dialysis is said to be the process wherein the molecules are meant to be separated. A lot of people are familiar with dialysis because this is one of the treatments that are available for those who are suffering from kidney diseases.

This purification process is meant to purify the blood. The kidneys usually do this, but those with failed kidneys would need to do this to ensure that they will live. In Osmosis, the movement will only depend on the water molecules, but in dialysis, the movement will move not only water molecules but also toxins.

Osmosis is the flow of a solvent from a lower concentration to a higher concentration, while dialysis is the passage of a solute in a permeable membrane. Osmosis is used in the field of biochemistry and pharmacology, while dialysis is used in the field of medicine in helping patients with renal failure expel their body wastes.

Dialysis can be applied in real life to those who have kidney problems. By allowing some salute to pass through the machine, it can be able to remove wastes and poisons by filtering it using the solute. Osmosis also explains the function of osmotic diuretics, which are medications allowing them to drain fluids from the brain.

Osmosis and dialysis are two processes that occur in the body. Osmosis occurs when water molecules pass from low pressure to high pressure. This passing occurs across a semipermeable membrane. This process allows water to pass through the holes. Dialysis differs because it involves separation between the smaller and larger molecules. This occurs through a permeable membrane.

This type of dialysis isn't to be confused with the medical treatment that kidney patients go through. Instead, this type of dialysis along with osmosis allows scientist and doctors to study the activities of the body or an organism.
