There is no much difference between prison and Correctional Facility. Both are meant for prisoners to live in, to change their character and also to make them more fit to live around people. Correctional facility and prison are specially created places of confinement for people who have been convicted of serious crimes.

These places are made in such a way that necessary facilities like vocational centers, library and other facilities that can shape them or cater for their fundamental rights are provided. Prisoners in a correctional facility or prison are grouped depending on the nature and gravity of their crimes.

Non-serial prisoners are most times kept in a minimum correctional facility, while serial prisoners are kept in areas with maximum security. The significant difference between correctional facility and prison is that a prison is a place of long-term confinement for prisoners, while the correctional facility is for both long-term and short-term prisoners
