LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. LED's are nothing but semiconductors that glow when an electric current flows through them. They are a better choice as opposed to incandescent and fluorescent lamps, and they have long been a standard in electronic displays such as clocks and stereos.

Halogen lamps are similar in operation and construction to incandescent light bulbs. These are lamps that are often used for accent lighting. However, LED lamps longevity combined with their high efficiency makes them a better investment.
