Officers tend to make more money than enlisted men who are kept lower on the pay scale. Enlisted men and women tend to be moved more frequently. Officers generally do not have the same type of demands put upon them. They can last longer in one area, not have to be concerned about changing from one job to another very often, and they can develop skills that enlisted men and women cannot develop.

However, an officer will generally have more power as far as being in charge is concerned. Being a respectable enlisted man or woman means being able to follow the chain of command, and it also means being a good leader and setting an excellent example.
