Tener and Haber are verbs which are very commonly used in the Spanish language, and they are one of the most perplexing verb pairs for all those who are trying to learn Spanish. Both verb forms express the alike meaning of 'to have' or 'to possess.' When you are talking about an object in the sense of possessing it, Tener is the verb form to use. Haber is used primarily in the form of an auxiliary verb for things that you have done. If you want to make it evident that you are physically having or holding something, you should use the word, tener.
