AJAX is an acronym for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML. It simply refers to the client’s side of programming that allows web applications to retrieve data from the server. It is a group of related web techniques. It uses a combination of CSS and HTML. AJAX was developed by Jesse James Garrett and was made known to the public on the18th of February 2005.

AJAX allows web pages to send data and also receive data from the server without changing the webpage. On the other hand, PHP stands for Hypertext Preprocessor. PHP was mainly designed for web development to power back end of applications. PHP is highly vulnerable and is prone to a high level of hacking activity. PHP was developed by Rasmus Lerdorf, and it first appeared in 1995.

AJAX is very important during web development because it houses different techniques that are interrelated and work together in building up web applications, these various web applications are equipped with the capacity to receive data from the server when connected.

PHP, on the other hand, means Hypertext processor. PHP is designed like other programming languages. It is used for web development, and it is an open source scripting language which can be put inside HTML. This can connect to the web server, and it will perform exactly it meant to do. Unlike AJAX, PHP is not too difficult to use by newcomers.
