The policy can be referred to as a plan, while politics is seen as what the government system typically depicts. Politics can be well defined as the art or science of government or governing, especially in a national entity. A policy can, however, be defined as the general laid down a plan to achieve a set of goals. A policy can also be referred to as a proposed action by the government or an individual, organization, or party.

Politics is a term that refers to the practice and theory of governance. It is used to define what the government entity is all about. We can also liken policy to principle, an international set down statement or guide to achieve some purposes. Politics is most likely restricted to the government body, but policies can be pursued by an individual, business firm, political party, or any group of people. Politics is gotten from a Greek word 'politicos', while the policy is derived from another Greek word 'politeia.'
