An example of pride is when you feel pleased that you and the Olympics champions are from the same nationality. Self-esteem, on the other hand, is a very stable level of one’s self-worth and is considered a personality trait by psychologists. One of the beautiful things about human beings is the ability to create a particular self-worth for themselves. People's approach towards having a particular self-worth is what usually leads to pride and self-esteem. Self-esteem simply means when someone is having a particular level of confidence in himself or herself. Self-esteem can also be called self-respect. Self-esteem is usually considered as a trait in human beings. It talks about your dignity or worthwhile relating with people around you.

Pride, on the other hand, is the feeling that you are always above everyone around you. Pride should not be equated with high self-esteem. Pride usually has a negative connotation, while high self-esteem does not, and it is always encouraged among young people in order to grow their confidence. Pride is usually seen as a way of raising oneself to a standard you are not.
