GPWS stands for Ground Proximity Warning System while EGPWS stands for Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System. The EGWPS is just considered to be the more improved and advanced version of the GWPS. GPS will make sure that all of the safety precautions are being followed by the pilots when they are flying. If in case they feel that some things are being breached, they will immediately convey their observations.

The EGPWS can do all of these things but with more enhancements. This will be able to pinpoint the exact location of the pilot and the plane that are not following the prescribed conditions. The EGPWS uses a specific database that the GPWS does not use.

GPWS and EGPWS are two types of technologies which are used by pilot in ensuring the safety of the aircraft. GPWS is the short form of Ground Proximity Warning Signal, while EGPWS is the short form of Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning Signal. From the full form of the acronyms, one can easily come to the knowledge that EGPWS is just the advanced form of GPWS. GPWS is used as a warning signal to inform the pilot whether the various conditions of the aircraft are still in good condition.

It uses an array of sensors, and this informs the pilot when the safety limits are being violated or breached. This technology helps the pilot to know whether the aircraft is going too close to the ground, or the aircraft is diving too much. EGPWS, on the other hand is also designed to do exactly all the functions of GPWS, but it comes with the additional feature of GPS (Global Positioning System). This helps the pilot to know the exact location of the aircraft.

There are a lot of people who have heard about the EGPWS and GPWS, but they do not know what these things are. These things are related to technology. EGPWS is considered to be the more advanced and safer version of the GPWS. This also uses GPS, but the GPWS does not use GPS.

You can use the GPWS if you would like to gain more information about the ground where you will place your device. You will be able to detect the field under. EGPWS can be used if you want to scout a larger area. Let us say that you want to cover more ground. This is the right option available.
