What is the evidence for the orgin of land plants from the green algae?

There are some reports that are stating that the different land plants that can be found right now may have come from green algae. There is some fossil evidence regarding the first sporophytes which means that the different spores that came from the green algae may have caused the appearance of the different land plants that we can find right now.

There are some similarities that are obvious like the fact that they both have cellulose on their cell walls. Another similarity is they have the same chemicals that will give them almost the same colors. While there are some similarities, there are also some differences that may have occurred because of the evolution of plants in general.
