DNA is the abbreviation for Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid and RNA is the acronym for Ribo Nucleic Acids. The two types of acids are not the same because they stand for different things in their functions. DNA is a long polymer with phosphate backbone, Deoxyribose and four different bases, adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine.

DNA is used in the medical world for many things and particularly to ascertain the real parents of a child, this is possible because the DNA contains chromosomes and other genetic information, the chromosomes contain trait which can be traced from parents to their children. RNA is also a polymer which contains Ribose, phosphate backbone and four different bases.

It can be found in the nucleus as well as in the cytoplasm. The main task of RNA is to transfer the genetic code needed for the creation of proteins from the nucleus to the ribosome.

These are details that will surely be important for reproduction. When DNA becomes damaged, it can cause some serious health issues. For instance, there may be some abnormal cells that may cause cancer when DNA becomes damaged.
