Babies with Down Syndrome can lead a normal life like all babies. In the 1950s and 1960s and before that, babies that had any kind of disorder or disability were usually placed in asylums because there weren’t any resources for the parents to use to help their children. The child would struggle throughout life and the parents would have trouble raising them.
Also, if the parent had other children, they would have trouble trying to take care of these children. Therefore, today, things are different. Children and now adults who have Down Syndrome do everything that anybody else can do. They can go to school, graduate, get prepared for college, attend college and work a job. They can also play sports and hobbies that everyone else is interested in.
