Europe is the second smallest continent in the world and it has about 44 countries including some territories and dependencies. There are also over 800 cities in Europe. Those cities can be classified as medium sized cities and small cites depending on their populations and the total geographical area covered by each city. We all know of Istanbul as the largest city in Europe. But it will interest you to know that the smallest city in Europe is Vatican City.


Although, Vatican City is a sovereign state in Europe, it is regarded as the smallest country in the world and it also turns out to the smallest city in the world. Vatican City is a very small country with the geographical area of 0.44 square kilometers. And it has a population of about 1000 people. Vatican City is widely popular for its unique architectural designs and other art works. The country is usually regarded as the seat of pope.
