The United States congress is the legislative arm of the federal government and it contains two houses, we have upper house known as the Senate and the lower house known as the house of representatives. The house of representatives is made up of 435 members and they spend just two years as a single term before going for another election.

They have a very large size compared to senate because they perceive them to be very close to the people so that they will be informed about the problems of their people. The are some criteria a person aspiring to be a member must meet before he can be eligible to contest. The first thing is, the person must be a citizen of the United States of America for the past seven years.

The second thing is that the person must be at least 25 years old. Another criteria is that, the person must be an inhabitant of the state they represent at the time of the election
