Phobia is defined as an extreme or irrational fear that triggers anxiety and it is often leads to anxiety disorder. Claustrophobia is an anxiety disorder which usually results to an uncontrollable or intense fear of enclosed or confined spaces. Though it is normal to afraid being trapped in a small place but when the thought of being enclosed in a small place is becoming too much, it might lead claustrophobia. The effect of this condition differs from one person to another. How do you overcome claustrophobia so it will stop eating you up.

The first method to overcome claustrophobia is through systematic desensitization. This involves a concious effort of training one's mind not to be seeing enclosed spaces as something harmful, this method will help you to control what you fear based on hierarchical order of things that do prompt your fears.

Another method is cognitive therapy, this method will help you to identify thoughts that follow our fear response, so that we would be aware of those ones that are real and the unreasonable ones.
