St Patrick color is a light shade of blue. The color blue was associated with Saint Patrick in the 1780s. This light shade of blue can be seen on the ancient Irish flag and also used as armband for flags by member of the Irish citizen army.

The coat of arm of Ireland is a golden harp with silver strings in a field of blue. This standard was introduced at the end of Douglas Hyde’s term in the year 1945.

The sporting color in University College Dublin are Saint Patrick blue and saffron. This was adopted in 1910. The national academic dress code is also Saint Patrick blue in faculty of science and vetinary medicine with darker Celtic blue.
