Digitalization is one of the worst sources of pollution in the world. So many things are involved in digitalization that cause pollution. One is the manufacturing of the products. There is a lot of waste that goes along with making digital devices. Using the devices creates global emissions which is expected to account for much of the world's emmission waste in about 20 years, like 14 percent rise from the 2 percent it causes today.

The disposal of the products is another huge issue. Landfills are packed with digital devices and they are toxic to the environment. Although regulations are set in place for disposal, people don't always follow the rules. Manufacturing is another mamoth root problem too. So, yes, digitilization has certainly increased pollution in the world and that is only going to get worse unless something major changes.

As we learn about the way we humans pollute our planet there are natural efforts to seek to control the damage. We have long attempted to reduce land pollution and disposal of domestic waste, not wholly successfully, but now we are becoming aware that our use of digital products is also a large source of pollution concern.

Manufacturing, use and disposal of our gadgets increases energy demands, produces toxic waste and contributes to air pollution. Billions of internet-connected devices produces possibly 2 percent of global emissions, and that could rise to 14 percent by 2040. As yet, digitilization is not the major cause of pollution.
