Cataract, a form of low vision quality due to the clouding of the eye lens, is rampant throughout the whole world. It can occur in anybody and at any place, irrespective. It only needs to be avoided by taking some necessary precautions like; avoiding smoking, and probably using sunglasses; but in some worse scenario like someone that was born with it, such a person will have to go for the treatment, which is best done as a surgery. Cataracts are the cause of about fifty percent of the blindness that occurs in the world.

This implies that the ailment affects relatively all nations without leaving the United States behind. About twenty million people in the world are affected by cataracts. About sixty percent of blindness in South America and Africa are as a result of cataracts; while even about five percent blindness in the United States is caused by cataracts. By the advanced age of about 75 upward, over fifty percent are affected with cataracts in the United States.
